YMFE Scholarship Program 2010-2011

The Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (YMFE) is a European non-profit making charity that – above all – is dedicated to supporting talented music students in Europe. Since 1990, YMFE has awarded scholarships worth more than 1 Million Euro to over 850 outstanding young musicians all over Europe. A total of 37 scholarships in 25 countries will be awarded to full-time students in 2010/2011.

In 2010/2011, the scholarships’ discipline is Piano.

Target Group

  • The YMFE-Scholarship Competition is open to full-time music students of any nationality not older than 25 years at the time of the application.
  • The rewarded discipline changes every year. Applicants will be selected according to their current musical ability and their demonstrated future potential.
  • The basis for this evaluation is an initial screening from a recorded performance, followed by a live performance at the final selection. Selection Committees comprising senior figures from the world of music will select the most suitable applicants.
  • Since 1990 there have been Scholarship-Programs in various disciplines including Brass and/or Woodwind, Piano, Strings, Percussion and Vocal.

Number of Scholarships

A total of 37 scholarships in 25 countries will be awarded to full-time students in 2010/2011.

Duration

1 year

Scholarship Value

Each scholarship has a value of €1000 to €2000, depending on the country where the applicant is studying.

The scholarship covers one year and the money may be used for any purpose related to the advancement of studies.

Application

Applicants should complete the application form and send it to the appropriate contact address together with a recording of two titles.

  • Please make sure to send a CD, DVD or Mini Disc with your recordings together with the application form.
  • The quality of the sound does not have an effect on the later selection process.
  • The length of both pieces should not exceed more than 20 minutes.
