The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) has recently opened its International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2013 competition to designers, students and companies worldwide. For 33 years, IDEA has recognized design excellence in products, sustainability, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts. For the fourth year, The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mich., will house the winners in its permanent collection. Started in 1980, the IDEA program fosters business and public understanding about the impact of industrial design excellence on the quality of life and the economy.

The 4th Annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival invites professional and amateur filmmakers to submit for consideration films ranging from 3 to 60 minutes. This is the only festival in the USA to focus solely on bicycle travel. Entry is free until 1 February 2013! Films should feature bicycle travel of any type: organized tour or informal travel, domestic or international. A Grand Jury Prize + an Audience Prize will be awarded in 2013. The Festival is scheduled for 21 May 2013 at the Regent Theatre, Arlington, Massachusetts.

International Reggae Poster Contest has just opened the call for its second poster contest. After the very successful first edition, designers are once again invited to create poster designs and build awareness for Reggae music and celebrate the global achievements of Reggae and its impact on the world. The Second International Reggae Poster Contest 2013 is open to all graphic designers and artists internationally. The top 100 posters and winners will be printed in the “World-A-Reggae, International Reggae Poster Contest, 2012-2013″ book, showcasing the posters of the two years contest. Prizes will also be awarded.

Every July, the Voies Off prize is awarded by a jury of renowned professionals to an artist for the clarity of his/her vision and the high quality of his/her work. The current amount of the prize is 2,500 euros. The 2013 Voies Off Prize has recently opened for submission. All amateur or professional photographers, artists, associations, collectives, groups, galleries, agencies, or schools… using photography as their medium are invited to submit works. There is no restriction regarding age or nationality.

Photographers are being asked to create single images that engage their vision of the romantic nature of the landscape that surrounds them. Across the globe, countries name their seasons differently, and some also vary the starting date of their seasons. The purpose of the Romantic Landscape juried competition is to extend our understanding of what contemporary landscapes look like across our world today. Three photographers whose image best demonstrates photographic excellence, and shows they have engaged deeply with the theme of romantic landscape, will be awarded a cash award. A further 22 photographers works will receive honorable mentions.

Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission, are proud to announce the 2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition Call for Entries. The competition, now in its 20th year, recognizes the exceptional work of architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential or commercial/hospitality spaces. The competition is open to all North American architects and interior designers. Domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 2008 and January 2013 are eligible for entry. Hospitality Design (HD) magazine is seeking submissions for its 2013 Hospitality Design (HD) Awards. Now in its ninth year, the prestigious awards program honors the best new architecture and interior design projects in 17 categories — from hotel and restaurant to resort and hospitality debut. All projects must have been completed between 1 December 2011, and 1 March 2013. An awards ceremony honoring the winners and finalists selected by a jury of prominent industry members will take place in June in New York, and both winners and finalists will be featured in the June issue of Hospitality Design.
