Shelter is pleased to invite people from all over the world to take part in the first annual Dencity Competition, a call for ideas for improving slum conditions worldwide over the coming decades. Rapid world growth is not allowing cities to adapt and provide for their inhabitants. Towns are quickly growing into cities, and some of the densest places in the world are comprised of makeshift homes, otherwise referred to as slums. Now, more than ever, we need to play a central role in the development of substandard neighborhoods. Architects, students, engineers, designers, thinkers, NGOs and organizations are all invited to participate in this competition. No professional qualifications are necessary. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to join.

The 3rd edition of FotoFilmic’s annual global film photography competition has recently been opened and all film photographers are invited to submit their best works for 2015. FotoFilmic is an independent film-photography publication and curation platform dedicated to emerging and unknown photographers working on film and analog/historical processes. In the global context of digital technology FotoFilmic reflects an ongoing transformative understanding of Film Photography as a distinct fine art medium and practice within contemporary photography. New to 2015, the FotoFilmic Exhibition FotoFilmic’15 will travel to and open in three (3) different cities and countries: first in New York, United States in August 2015, then in Vancouver, Canada in October 2015 and close in Seoul, South Korea in March 2016!

The KurtuKunst Gallery and Limes Image Agency invite cartoonists from all over the world to participate in the 6th International Cartoon Competition Berlin 2015 with the theme “Spying”. In June 2013, when Edward Snowden began leaking highly classified documents of the National Security Agency (NSA) to the press, the revelations sparked a global firestorm of debate and outrage about U.S. surveillance practices. Such massive data collection violates privacy rights. The organizers invite all cartoonists to submit up to three (3) original works on the theme. The best three cartoonists will receive He-Goat awards and certificates. A special Audience Award will also be announced.

SoundEx and moorroom cultural association are pleased to present the 2015 Sonic Arts Award (SAAW) annual sound design and digital art competition. The Sonic Arts Award competition, which is now in its third year, is open to all artists over the age of 18 and aimed at the production and promotion of sonic arts at an international level. Cash prizes will be awarded in each of the four (4) competition categories, as well as two residencies, granted by the Cardelli & Fontana Gallery in Sarzana and CAOS Museum in Terni, in Italy. Audio hardware and software will be awarded as well.

Project Basho Gallery is currently accepting submissions for ONWARD Compé 2015, its international juried competition for emerging photographers. Now in its eighth year, Compé has solidified its standing as a highly respected international competition, drawing submissions from across the U.S. and around the globe. Each year Compé culminates in a group show of framed prints from the selected finalists, with an opening reception at Summit, ONWARD’s annual photography festival in Philadelphia. It seeks to increase the exposure of talented image-makers, create outlets for artists’ work, and present compelling photographs in a cohesive and well-curated exhibition.

Bogliasco Foundation has opened application for its 2015-2016 fellowship program, calling individuals working in all disciplines of the Arts and Humanities. Twenty-five (25) artists and scholars from 14 countries were awarded residencies at the Bogliasco Study Center in Italy, during the last residency cycle. Fellowships are awarded to individuals as a result of significant achievement in their disciplines, commensurate with their age and experience. Students currently in a degree-granting program, are not eligible to apply. Bogliasco Foundation gives preference to those whose applications suggest that they would be comfortable working in an intimate, international, multilingual community of scholars and artists.

RC Art Shop is pleased to announce the NewA Collection – NewAge Painting Contest 2015 and invite all Fine Arts and Painting students around the world to participate with their best oil on canvas and acrylic works. This contest is organized to open new horizons for art lovers and to promote and support young artists. At the end of this first of a series of (traditionally) annual contests, achievement awards will be granted and artworks of significance will be displayed in an exhibition, further supporting the works of the young artists. The first ten (10) artists will be invited to Ankara for a week, including travel expenses and accommodation and will be asked to perform with the materials provided there. Three winners will be determined at the end of these performances.
