CarpetVista, the world’s largest online carpet shop, is currently hosting its annual carpet design competition and accepts entries for 2015. Submitted designs should give carpets a modern feeling, with a motif that’s not too detailed and should be reproducible in different colour-combinations. Total prizes of almost 3,000 Euro will be awarded to the designers of the twelve best carpet designs. The two first prize winners will each be awarded 1,076 Euro.

Urban SOS: All Systems Go – the 2015 AECOM’s global competition, calls on multidisciplinary teams of students to envision more resilient food, water, and energy systems for supplying cities and regions today and in the future. All Systems Go is the 6th student competition in AECOM’s Urban SOS program, created to engage students in urban planning and design, architecture, landscape architecture, economics, environmental studies, and engineering with the issues confronting modern cities and allowing them to propose solutions that, if worthy, will be seen by established professionals. Three short-listed teams will be invited to present their proposals before an interdisciplinary panel at the A+D Museum in Los Angeles in October 2015. Urban SOS: All Systems Go jurors will award US$15,000 in prizes, which may be divided among one or more teams. In addition, AECOM will make available up to US$25,000 of cash and in-kind staff time to support the implementation of a prototype of the winning team’s strategies.

DARTS, the Digital Art Storytelling project is currently hosting digital art and creative writing competitions for young creatives. Participants are invited to use their creativity and build a work around the story of some historic complexes in Europe – the Villa Rufolo in Ravello (Italy), the Alden Biesen Castle (Belgium), the Corvin Castle (Romania). Three (3) winners, one for each historic building, will be announced in both competitions. A total of 3,000 Euro in prize money will be awarded amongst other prizes.

The SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) company is hosting a design competition to accelerate the development of a functional prototype of the Hyperloop high-speed ground transport system — first announced as a concept in 2013. The competition is open for university students and independent engineering teams and the intention is to design and build the best Hyperloop pod. The Company will be constructing a sub-scale Hyperloop test track, adjacent to its Hawthorne, California headquarters, which will be used during a live competition weekend, currently scheduled for June 2016.

The AGDA Design Awards 2015 competition has recently opened for submissions, to recognize and document the best work happening in Australia and New Zealand. Starting this year the AGDA Design Awards will be held annually. The competition is open for submissions in fifteen (15) main categories five (5) of which are dedicated to Student work. The competition jury, consisting of noted and talented, international and local creatives will select and award the best work with trophies and certificates, with finalists being announced on 1st September 2015.

The Department of Economic Development (DOED) of the Taipei City Government has recently opened registration for the 2015 Taipei International Design Award (TIDA) competition. Creative designers, teachers and students of design schools, and people with design passion from around the globe are invited to submit design works, to be publicly selected among international design works, as well as serve as creative design exchange platform to discover creative works with commercial potential. This year, the Taipei International Design Award (TIDA) competition has a total prize of more than NT$3 million, that’s more than US$95,000.

The Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad is hosting the 2015 World Biennial Exhibition of Student Photography competition and inviting all undergraduate students to participate. Up to three (3) works created within last two (2) academic years can be submitted by each participant. There are no limitations on techniques or realization of the photographs. The 2015 Photography competition includes 2,700 Euro in prizes, to be divided between the first three best winning works.

The call for entries of the 2015 Innsbruck Nature Film Festival (INFF) has recently opened and filmmakers around the world are invited to submit their best work. The Innsbruck Nature Film Festival is an international nature film competition, offering motivated filmmakers a platform for presenting their latest work. This year, the Competition includes prizes worth more than 15,000 Euro, of which 6,000 Euro are reserved for the best Nature and Environment documentary films.

iMapp Bucharest, one of the biggest video-mapping events in the world, is currently accepting work for its 2015 international projection mapping competition. The theme of the iMapp Bucharest 2015 is “The Elements” – referring to the four primordial elements: earth, wind, fire and water. Video and picture projections are eligible for submission. Out of all participants six artists will be selected and each will receive 16,000 Euro for the production of their video work, to prepare it for the live competition. A Jury award and an Audience award of 5,000 Euro each will be awarded on 19 September 2015, during a live event in Bucharest. The best picture entry will be awarded with 1,000 Euro.
