Now in the 32nd year, the World of WearableArt (WOW) Awards competition has opened for submissions, for 2020 to designers from all parts of the world.
The World of WearableArt Awards Competition is an internationally renowned wearable art competition that, each year, attracts entries from over 40 countries around the world. The Competition is an opportunity for designers to create the unimaginable, and defy creative expectations.
The Awards Competition offers not only prize money (a total prize pool of NZ$187,500) but also profile and promotion of designers’ work, networking opportunities, and access to exclusive and highly sought-after internships and residencies with exciting creative companies around the world.
The Cirque du Soleil Invited Artisan Award is the only experience in the world that invites the winning designer to spend four-weeks at the famed Cirque du Soleil headquarters in Montreal, Canada (the prize includes flights from anywhere in the world and accommodation, plus prize money!)
The Weta Workshop Emerging Designer Award offers an up-and-coming designer the opportunity to spend four-weeks behind-the-scenes at five-time Academy Award® winning Weta Workshop (the production studio behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy) in Wellington, New Zealand.
The Residency Experience Award is presented to a designer whose work exemplifies exceptional cutting-edge design, and the winner will be chosen by none other than iconic fashion activist and celebrity stylist B. Akerlund. The winning designer will receive the opportunity to show up to five pieces of their work at the exclusive Residency Experience showroom in Los Angeles for a three-month period, during which time their work will be given invaluable exposure through The Residency social channels.
