Entry has opened for the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest 2021, Russia’s only platform for discovering new photojournalists. The contest is aimed at supporting young photo journalists aged 18 to 33 in their striving for top professionalism. The Grand Prize for 2021 is RUB 700,000 and there are three other monetary prizes for the best work in each competition category.

The Society of Publication Designers (SPD) is calling for entries to their 56th annual competition that recognizes and promotes the best in editorial design, photography and illustration. With thousands of entries worldwide, SPD’s annual competition is the largest in the world. Judged by a jury of leading creatives, the show produces a unique overview of the year’s best work across print and digital. Winning entries will be presented in the SPD 56 online awards in June 2021. Brand Of The Year, Magazine Of The Year, Website Of The Year and Video Of The Year are some of the highlighted awards that will be announced.

The 29th Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival is calling for new short films produced in 2020 or 2021, up to 60 minutes in length. Eligible for submission are animations, documentaries, fiction films, experimental films and music videos, in film (16mm and 35mm) or digital (DCP or video files). The Festival is very competitive and each year awards are announced in thirteen (13) categories, five (5) of which are international.

The Association of Illustrators (AOI) in partnership with USA-based Directory of Illustration, announces the World Illustration Awards 2021. This year the organizers will be celebrating great illustration from across the globe, with an emphasis on supporting illustrators many of whom have continued to make amazing work in incredibly challenging circumstances in light of COVID-19. Illustrators, commissioners, agents and tutors are invited to submit work created, commissioned or published since January 2020 into the ten categories of the Awards, which are judged by distinguished professionals from the global illustration industry. There are also some great prizes on offer, including generous cash prizes for the Overall Winners.

World Habitat, in collaboration with UN-Habitat, is looking for the world’s best housing solutions through the 2021 World Habitat Awards competition. Eligible for entry are projects from around the world that focus on affordable and adequate housing, that are in progress or have been completed in the last ten years and project that have been designed and/or delivered in close collaboration with the residents/local community. Two winners of the 2021 World Habitat Awards will receive a Gold Award and £10,000. There will also be Silver and Bronze Awards for other outstanding projects and programmes. In addition, winning projects will have the opportunity to share their approach to housing solutions through World Habitat’s Transfer Programme.

Applications for Istanbul Photo Awards 2021, Anadolu Agency’s international news photography contest, are open. In its seventh year, Istanbul Photo Awards aims to award and support photojournalists for their professional dedication. The contest is organized by Anadolu Agency, which has worked with a great number of photojournalists throughout its 100 years in journalism. The “Photo of the Year” award will be given to the photograph that is first in rank in the Single News category and the photographer will be awarded with $6,000. The winners of each category will be awarded with $3,000, the second-in-ranks with $1,500 and the third-in-ranks with $1,000. Only the first prize winners will be awarded in Story Daily Life and Story Portrait categories.

NAMBOOK International Committee is calling for entries to the Nami Concours 2021 – International Picture Book Illustration competition. Open to all picture book illustrators around the world, the competition accepts digital prints of original illustrations as entries, on any theme. The best works will be awarded with $30,000 in total, of which $10,000 are reserved for the Grand Prix winner. Awards will be announced during an online award ceremony. A special exhibition will be held during the 2021 Nami Island International Children’s Book Festival.

The 6th edition of the All About Photo Awards invites photographers from around the world to submit their best work for consideration. The theme for 2020 is “The Mind’s Eye“, in reference to Henri Cartier-Bresson’s photo essay — as an investigation of the depth and thoughts behind each image. Winners will receive $10,000 in cash awards, extensive press coverage and global recognition. The grand prize is $5,000, the 2nd prize is $2,000, the 3rd prize is $1,500, the 4th prize is $1,000 and the 5th prize is $500.

The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) has opened entry for its Global Design Awards for 2021. Eligible for submission are projects that have been completed between 1 January 2018, and 31 December 2020, as for Student entries, projects that have been completed in 2019 or 2020 by full-time students. Winners will be honored at the SEGD Global Design Awards Celebration during the SEGD Conference, 10-12 June, 2021 in Philadelphia.
