AIGA, the professional association for design, is calling for the final round of entries to the annual AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers competition.
Since its inception in 1923 as the Fifty Books of the Year competition, this annual event highlights AIGA’s continued commitment to uplifting powerful and compelling design in a familiar format we know and love. As book jackets became more prevalent, the competition evolved with the field to acknowledge excellence in cover design. Beginning in 1995, the competition became known as 50 Books | 50 Covers.
AIGA understands the timeless, magnetic power of design to engage readers and encourage them to turn the page. That is why the AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers competition continues to recognize the best of book and book cover design from around the world.
To be eligible, a book must consist of at least 24 pages. Except for limited-editions and print-on-demand, print runs should generally be in excess of 250 copies. Books produced as limited-editions or print-on-demand are eligible. Digitally produced books (ebooks) are also eligible. Printed books must be either case-bound or paperbound between covers.
All work must be published between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. New work created after 31 December 2022 will not be considered.
Entries should be for sale to the general public in the marketplace, or, if offered gratis, should not be publications whose primary purpose is to advertise or serve as an annual report or other corporate literature.
