The Association of Illustrators (AOI) in partnership with USA-based Directory of Illustration, has opened the call for entries for the World Illustration Awards 2023.
The World Illustration Awards showcase great work being made by illustrators all over the world today.
The Awards support and celebrate creativity, connecting illustrators to their peers and the industry. Being part of WIA offers a host of benefits to new talent and professional illustrators alike, such as increased visibility, opportunities for self-promotion, and the chance to network. WIA also gives many illustrators an international platform to reach new clients and commissions.
Illustrators, commissioners, agents and tutors are invited to submit work created, commissioned or published during the 2022 calendar year (up until the final deadline of the competition in February 2023). Entries can be submitted into ten categories of the Awards, which are judged by distinguished professionals from the global illustration industry. There are also some great prizes on offer, including generous cash prizes for the Overall Winners.
The World Illustration Awards are a year-long showcase of great illustration.
Work must be entered into one of the ten categories per entry which are:
- Book Covers
- Children’s Publishing
- Design, Product & Packaging
- Science & Technology
- Site Specific
The AOI first ran an annual competition, called Images, in 1975 that was open to any British Illustrator. In 2012, Images was replaced by the AOI Illustration Awards, which ran for 2 years. In 2015 the AOI formed a partnership with the Directory of Illustration in the USA and created the World Illustration Awards.
The Association of Illustrators is the professional body for illustration in the UK. Established in 1973, it champions illustrators and the illustration industry with education, promotion and campaigning to achieve a thriving industry for us all.
