Andreu World International Design Contest 2019

Andreu World launches its 19th international design contest and opens registration for 2019 to both students and professionals from around the world.

Participants are invited to design an item of furniture (chair and/or table) based on specifications provided in a brief.

The best design for 2019 will be awarded with 4,000 Euro and the second-best, with 2,000 Euro. A maximum of four (4) non-monetary prizes will also be announced.

The competition briefing implies the following requirements:

  • Chairs (chairs, armchairs, lounge chairs, stools, benches and sofas): The main material shall be wood and upholstery. Beech, ash, oak, or walnut should be the wood species utilized, in either solid or plywood version.
    The Kvadrat textile collections should be used for upholstered pieces. The use of other materials such as metal, thermopolymer, and aluminum will also be accepted.
  • Tables (meeting table, living tables and occasional tables): The principal material shall be “Solid Textile Board by Really” – a high-density material manufactured from Kvadrat textiles at the end of their life-cycle. The use of other materials such as wood, plywood, laminate, glass, metal, thermopolymer, and natural stones will be accepted.
  • All designs presented should be new, not having been marketed or disclosed prior to the date of the Contest.

The competition is open worldwide and has no age limit for participation.

The awards ceremony will be held in December 2019.
