Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival 2011

The Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) celebrates its 11th year in 2011. The CCI-IFF is now accepting submissions for the 2011 Festival, to be held during Comic-Con International: San Diego (Comic-Con), from 21 July through 24 July 2011 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Comic-Con International is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of and appreciation for comics and related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.

Awards and prizes will be given out at Comic-Con on 24 July 2011, with film screenings all four days of the event.

Objective

The Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) accepts genre-related films in the following categories:

  • Action/Adventure,
  • Animation,
  • Comics-oriented,
  • Pop Culture-Related Documentary,
  • Horror/Suspense,
  • Humor, and
  • Science Fiction/Fantasy.

To be accepted, submitted films must be completely edited and in their final completed form. Rough cuts or unfinished material will not be considered. Please do not submit trailers, test footage or scenes from upcoming films.

Prizes

Awards and prizes will be given out at Comic-Con on 24 July 2011, with film screenings all four days of the event.

Films will be awarded with the following awards:

  • Best Action/Adventure Film
  • Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Film
  • Best Documentary Film
  • Best Comics-Related Film
  • Best Horror/Suspense Film
  • Best Humor Film
  • Best Animation Film
  • Judges’ Choice

If your film is accepted, free 4-day professional memberships will be granted to those appearing to discuss the film (limit 5), plus one adult guest membership for each speaker.

Rules

  • All films must be appropriate for an all-ages audience. No nudity, excessive violence or swearing.
  • All films must be no longer than 95 minutes in length.
  • One submission per filmmaker.
  • Films previously submitted to the CCI: IFF, whether accepted or denied, cannot be entered again.
  • Films submitted must have a completion date within the last two (2) years (2009-2010).
  • Four (4) copies of the submitted film must be sent.
  • At least one member of the filmmaking crew should be in attendance at the CCI: IFF to introduce and discuss the film.
  • Films submitted cannot have distribution deals or distribution deals pending.

How to enter?

Your film submission must include the entry form to be eligible for consideration and must be postmarked by 15 February 2011.

Please include a brief synopsis of your film on a separate sheet of paper not to exceed 50 words, along with a brief bio sheet on filmmakers (director or writer) and one (1) production still for use in any potential publicity.

Mail 4 DVD (NTSC ONLY, Region 1 compatible, NO PAL) copies of your film with the entry form, the brief synopsis and biography to:
