“Free press” is searching for experiences or thoughts on the topic of press, freedom of expression and freedom of information diffusion by designing a poster. You can be freely inspired by today’s stories or from the past concerning your own country or any other countries of the world. Press not only intended as radio, television or newspapers, but also as Internet, blogs and social networks.
This contest has the aim to select posters from national and international graphic designers in order to set up an exhibition focusing on the controversial topic of freedom of the press (“Free press”).
The competition is open to everyone from all over the world, from the age of 15 to 35.
Objective
“Free press” is searching for experiences or thoughts on the topic of press, freedom of expression and freedom of information diffusion by designing a poster. You can be freely inspired by today’s stories or from the past concerning your own country or any other countries of the world. Press not only intended as radio, television or newspapers, but also as Internet, blogs and social networks.
Graphic designers, graphic design students and professionals of visual communication, worldwide are encouraged to express their ideas by designing a poster.
This contest has the aim to select posters from national and international graphic designers in order to set up an exhibition focusing on the controversial topic of freedom of the press (“Free press”).
The principle of the selection:
- focus on the topic
- aesthetic value
- originality
- work description (intended as the ethic/moral value of the work itself)
Prizes
The most valuable works will be selected and exhibited during the sixth edition of “Vicino/Lontano – Identità e differenze al tempo dei conflitti” (Udine, 6-9 May 2010) organized by Vicino/Lontano cultural association (www.vicinolontano.it) during the period of the exhibition and longer.
Rules
- The competition is open to everyone from all over the world, from the age of 15 to 35. In case of a minor, it is obligatory to sign the authorization form with a parent.
- Each participant is allowed to send up to 3 projects, in color or in black and white.
- Every possible technique of visual art is permitted. In case of paintings, collages or analogic photography, the artworks must be digitalized. Originals without the printed versions, or artworks without the appropriate size will not be accepted.
- Each work must fulfill each of the following requirements:
- file format JPG (maximum quality)
- file color space CMYK
- minimum dimensions: vertical A3 (4209×5953 px)
- resolution 300dpi
- file size for each file: smaller than 10 mb
- an A3 portait print on matt-coated paper, weight 150/200gr
How to enter?
The artworks need to be sent in printed versions (n.1 portait A3 print) and in digital format (Jpeg, maximum quality) on a CD-rom with the entry from attached.
Each work must be marked on the backside with a title, without the name of the author. Each work must also have a short description with the explanation of the concept. These descriptions must be transferred on the back-side of every artwork.
