Akademie Schloss Solitude is happy to announce the start of the call for applications for its international and transdisciplinary artist-in-residence-program for 2024 to 2026. This wide-ranging fellowship program promotes the interrelationship of art and science across all disciplines and fields of practice. Its unique model affords artists and scientists valuable freedom to develop their work and perform research in both a physical and digital context. Residencies at Akademie Schloss Solitude enable fellows to devote themselves to their research projects under favorable material and intellectual conditions. For the 19th time, around 65 residencies of six to twelve months will be awarded.

Akademie Schloss Solitude is calling for applications, for its fellowship programe for an idea, question, or project outline that deals with the topic of »Under Utopia«. The call is directed towards artists, activists, and thinkers from all disciplines who locate their practice within the thematic context of the project and who consider a lively exchange with different social actors, institutions and disciplines an integral part of their work. Within the framework of »Under Utopia« three four-month fellowship grants will be awarded for a residency starting November 2021 until the end of February 2022.

Akademie Schloss Solitude has launched a new residency program in Namibia for artists from Germany working across the fields of visual arts, literature/journalism, and digital practices. Especially welcome to apply are Black persons and/or persons of African descent living in Germany. The fellowship includes accommodation, a monthly fellowship grant of 1,200 Euro, travel expenses for arrival and departure, project funding and one-off materials subsidy and health insurance.

The WimmelResearch Fellowship is awarded as part of a joint project for the development of Platform 12, an experimental space in Renningen. This thematic call for submissions invites artists of all disciplines to engage with the topic of “Immortality & the Living” from an artistic point of view. Selected artists will receive research funding for up to three months, a monthly stipend of 1,200 Euro, a combined apartment studio, mentorship and more.

The renowned Akademie Schloss Solitude is happy to announce its 17th call for applications for its international and interdisciplinary artist-in-residence-program. International artists are invited to apply from different spheres of practice as well as for academy’s thematic call. For the first time in its 30-year history, Akademie Schloss Solitude is expanding its profile with the addition of a thematic call. In cooperation with KfW Stiftung, Solitude is launching the new program with the specific content-related focus »Mutations«. To foster transdisciplinary and transcultural dialogue between the arts, sciences and society, young professionals from all fields are invited to engage in this topic in a focused group conversation. The 9-month program aims to encourage critical reflection and artistic production as well as encounters across disciplines.

The new application round of Akademie Schloss Solitude – located in Stuttgart, Germany – for residential fellowships from 2017–2019 starts on 1st September 2016. Akademie Schloss Solitude is granting approximately 70 residential fellowships of three to twelve months in duration. International artists are invited to apply from the following disciplines: Architecture, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Design, Literature, Music/Sound, Time-based Media and Web-based Media. Furthermore, scholars, scientists and professionals from the disciplines of the Humanities, Social Sciences (with focus on culture and geopolitics), Economy/Economics (with focus on urban policy), and History (with focus on practices of writing and politics in the contemporary).

Akademie Schloss Solitude is currently accepting applications for 2017, for its Digital Solitude program for young professionals. The fellowship program is intended for journalists, developers/coders, designers, as well as artists and all other creatives and professionals who work on the development of new digital content and formats. As part of the Program, each year Akademie Schloss Solitude will be awarding a total of 24 months of fellowships to two to four people in 2016 and 2017.
