A famed competition, redefined for today’s designer. 365: AIGA Year in Design celebrates your passion, hard work, and dedication. For agencies big and small as well as those going it alone, AIGA are recognizing excellence and representing innovation across all categories of communication design, from print to web to service to spaces—both physical and virtual. Work selected by jurors will chronicle the contributions of design and designers to business and visual culture. Winners will be announced in the fall.

Now in its 100th year, AIGA is delighted to usher in its annual 50 Books | 50 Covers competition, which recognizes the best in book and book cover design. Starting in 1923 as the Fifty Books of the Year competition, this time-honored competition aims to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers published between January and December. The juror-selections from the AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers competition will exemplify the best current work in book and book cover design from around the globe. Winners will become part of the AIGA Collection at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University’s Butler Library in New York City and published in a gallery on AIGA’s website.

365: AIGA Year in Design celebrates your passion, hard work, and dedication. Work in all media is eligible if it has been first designed, produced, or launched publicly and available for sale or use in the general marketplace between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. Work selected by jurors will chronicle the contributions of design and designers to business and visual culture. Winners for 50 Books | 50 Covers of 2022 will be announced in the spring. Winners of 365: AIGA Year in Design (2022) will be announced in the fall.

AIGA + Design Observer are pleased to announce the 50 Books | 50 Covers competition for books published in 2016. Entered books must consist of at least 24 pages, with an exception for limited-editions. The selections from this competition, which will be published on the DesignObserver website, exemplify the best current work in book and book cover design.

Command X, the ultimate reality show for emerging graphic designers, is back for a fourth season this fall, giving seven up-and-coming designers the chance to win the title and break into the industry. This is a live competition that will take place during the “Head, Heart, Hand: AIGA Design Conference” in Minneapolis, 10-12 October 2013. This year, contestants who make it through the first round will have the chance to work with an AIGA Medalist mentor — including design legends Jessica Helfand, Jennifer Morla, Lucille Tenazas, Michael Vanderbyl and Lorraine Wild.
