The Award invites current and recent design and engineering students across 28 countries and regions to present ideas that tackle real-world problems. Students and recent graduates of design or engineering are invited to enter inventions that do more with less, designed with the environment in mind. Submitted projects should have a significant and practical purpose, and have the potential to be commercially viable. One International Winner will be awarded $45,000 + $7,500 for their university. James Dyson Foundation has opened the 2015 edition of its international student Award competition, challenging young engineers and scientists around the world to develop problem solving ideas. New this year, is that students from Hong Kong and Taiwan are also able to enter. The James Dyson Award challenges participants to “design something that solves a problem”. The Award celebrates ingenuity, creativity and sustainable engineering and offers $45,000 for the best International design. Entrants must be, or have been within the last four years, enrolled for at least one semester in an undergraduate or graduate engineering or design program at a university in an eligible country.

The James Dyson Foundation has recently started accepting entries for the 2014 edition of its annual student competition, the James Dyson Award. This year marks the tenth (10) year anniversary of James Dyson’s search for new and better ways to solve problems. In recent years the competition has discovered and supported inventors with ideas such as an upper-body robotic arm and a more efficient device to capture wave power.
