RIBA Competitions is inviting registered architects to take part in this international open design competition for the design of a new Conservation Centre at the Oloololo Gate, Masai Mara, Kenya. The competition is open internationally to registered architects. Collaboration is encouraged between individuals and organizations of different size, expertise and experience. Each shortlisted team will be awarded with £4,000 honoraria to proceed to the second stage of the competition. It is the intention, funding permitting, to commission the author of the winning scheme to develop and implement their winning design.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is hosting the Rethink: 2025 – Design for life after Covid-19 competition to discover what kind of a world might be coming. Participants are invited to submit a speculative proposition at any scale – in-detail or wide-ranging – that offers a positive and tangible response to one or more of the issues arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. The design idea that, in the judges’ opinion, best encapsulates the new spirit of a post-Covid-19 era will be declared winner of the £5,000 prize. There will also be a £2,000 second prize and £1,000 third prize. Shortlisted and commended entries may also be published.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has launched a major new prize to discover the world’s best new buildings and to celebrate the value of architecture to communities worldwide. In the inaugural year of the RIBA International Prize, buildings entered for consideration must have been completed within the past 3 years (between 1 January 2013 and 1 February 2016). The RIBA International Prize will be awarded to the most significant and inspirational building of the year. The winning building will demonstrate visionary, innovative thinking and excellence of execution, whilst making a distinct contribution to its users and to its physical context.

Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Competitions and Bristol City Council are delighted to announce the launch of an international competition to design a new arena for Bristol. The Bristol Arena project is a large indoor multipurpose arena, to open in the summer of 2017 on the former diesel depot site close to Temple Meads railway station in central Bristol, United Kingdom. Multi-disciplinary teams will have the opportunity to design the 12,000 capacity entertainment arena. The successful experienced design team will have architectural, structural and building engineering capabilities as well as experience within the performance venue field and significant knowledge of the creation and development of urban spaces.

Architecture students from validated schools around the world may now submit applications for the 2014 RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Scholarship competition. The RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship, generously supported by Lord Foster and Foster + Partners, offers one traveling scholarship of £6,000 to a student of architecture to support international research on a topic and at locations of the student’s choosing. The Scholarship has been running since 2007 and so far has supported seven (7) students.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is inviting ambitious architects to take part in a competition to design a new pedestrian bridge for Salford. RIBA Competitions has joined forces with Salford City Council in asking architects and engineers to put forward concepts for the new bridge, which would cross the River Irwell and join some of Salford’s untapped green spaces to residential areas. The new bridge will play a crucial role in connecting these areas of Salford to the £650 million redevelopment of Salford Central near to the University of Salford, including the £10 million transformation of Chapel Street, and some of the city’s beautiful green spaces.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is delighted to announce the launch of a new design competition for transforming the unoccupied Curtis Green Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) building. The competition is launched on behalf of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to create a new central London HQ – replacing their existing New Scotland Yard building. The new HQ, to be called Scotland Yard, will involve the redevelopment of the existing and currently unoccupied Curtis Green MPS building located on the Victoria Embankment, London, SW1.

A £6,000 grant will be awarded to one student by a panel of judges which includes Lord Foster and the RIBA President Angela Brady. The RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship, offers one travelling scholarship to a student of architecture to support international research on a topic and at locations of the student’s choosing. This scholarship has been running since 2007.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is seeking the best examples of new British and international architecture. Practices up and down the country are invited to enter projects of architectural excellence for the 2013 RIBA awards. The 2013 programme includes RIBA Regional, National, EU and International Awards. The programme culminates with regional and national special awards and the RIBA Stirling Prize and RIBA Lubetkin Prize.

Applications are now open for the RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Scholarship 2012. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student of architecture. Students from all RIBA-validated schools worldwide are invited to apply for this £6,000 scholarship, which funds international research on topics and in locations of the student’s choosing. The topic of the research should, however, relate to the survival of our cities and towns. The RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Scholarship has been running since 2007. Last year’s awardee traveled to Delhi, Shanghai, Beijing, Oslo, Paris, Belfast, Kumasi and Johannesburg between July and September 2011.
