PLAYscapes International Design Competition

Building Trust international have just announced a new international design competition, which seeks to find exciting design proposals to transform neglected parts of cities into interactive landscapes, encouraging public engagement, community involvement and sustainable adaptive reuse.

The competition challenges professional and student designers, artists and architects to provide a design solution which advocates creativity.

Building Trust International Launches the PLAYscapes Design Competition

Submit a plan or proposal to turn a neglected forgotten part of your city into a PLAYscape. It’s up to you how you do it and who it is for. Is it for the kids or for adults, the old aged or everyone? Cities have forgotten how to have fun and need to let themselves go and live a little.

You could re-imagine a street park, propose a basketball court on a vacant lot, attach urban swings to bus stops, the possibilities are boundless. Get out there, see what you can do to cheer your city up. Then sit down, talk about it with friends, plan it, draw it and submit your idea!

And, here are the competition prizes:

  • Professional Category
    1st prize:
The organizers will pursue funding and planning for the winning design.
There will also be 9 honourable mentions.
  • Student Category
1st prize: $100 (+ Opportunity to volunteer with the build of winning professional design.)
There will also be 4 honourable mentions
