The 2017 Professional Lighting Design Convention (PLDC) is hosting an international design ideas competition, called: The future of urban lighting.
The competition is global and open for creative and intelligent solutions to support and enhance social life in cities.
The total prize fund is 9,500 Euro, of which 5,000 Euro are reserved for the First prize, 3,000 Euro – for the Second prize and 1,500 Euro – for the third prize. A Special Mention may be awarded.
Participation is possible in groups and targeted to lighting designers, architects and engineers to lead the design groups.
The first round of judging will take place in June 2017, after which the shortlist of the best ten competitors will be published. The listing of the best three and an additional special prize will be announced at PLDC 2017 in November, in Paris.
The PLDC 2017 International Design Ideas Competition is promoted by VIA Group, in partnership with City of Paris, Association des Concepteurs lumière et Eclairagistes and Fraunhofer Institute Stuttgart.

The fee to enter the PLDC 2017 Design Ideas competition is 75 Euro per submission (student fee 35 Euro + student ID).
