RAPIMAN Free Form Challenge – iCAT 2012

RAPIMAN (RApid Prototyping and Innovative MAnufacturing Network) has launched a design competition ‘Free Form Challenge’ within the framework of the iCAT 2012 conference.

Creators from all over the world with design and CAD skills are invited to submit their work(s) as entries within one of the competition topics.

The organizers challenge you to release your creative imagination and design products, as complex as you like, meaning they can be unrestricted by technological limitations.

RAPIMAN Challenges Designers Worldwide

The Free Form Challenge is seeking for product designs on the following competition topics:

  • Interior
    Lights (e.g.: table lamps, chandeliers, reading lamps, etc.)
  • Mock-Ups
    Means of transport (e.g.: cars, bicycles, aeroplanes, boats, etc.)
  • Personal Products
    Jewellery (e.g.: earrings, rings, spectacles, key-rings, etc.)
  • Industrial Products
    Headphones and accessories (e.g.: hands-free headset, headphones for music, headphones for noise protection, etc.).

Each candidate can participate in one or more competition topics, but with just one conceptual sketch / CAD / or STL file within each particular competition topic!

The jury will select the three to five best proposals from each competition topic. Each selected participant will receive a prototype of their product (max. overall size 240 mm), a printed award, and a presentation of their product at the exhibition, which will be held within in the framework of the iCAT 2012 conference and the European Capital of Culture 2012, in Maribor.

Within all submissions and competition topics, the jury will grant three prizes:

  • 1st prize: desktop 3D printer – Ortotip Ciciprint
  • 2nd prize: two 3D printed models selected by the author
  • 3rd prize: 3D printed prototype selected by the author
