Society Of Illustrators’ 55th annual exhibition competition is open for submissions from illustrators worldwide. Illustrations can be submitted in 7 different categories which include editorial, book, advertising or institutional illustrations, as well as illustrations from sequences or moving images.
Works selected by the juries will be shown at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators in New York, 4 January 2013 through 2 March 2013. A selection of 40 works will tour US colleges through June 2014, the 32nd educational traveling exhibition.
Society of Illustrators Annual #55 Accepting Entries Through 26 October 2012
Any illustration created or initially published between 1 October 2011 and 1 November 2012 that has not been accepted in the Annual previously, is eligible. International entries are welcome.
All commissioned work whether published or not, should be entered in one of the first seven categories:
- Editorial,
- Book,
- Advertising,
- Institutional,
- Sequential/Series,
- Moving Image, and
- Uncommissioned.
Gold and Silver Medals will be presented to the illustrators and art directors whose works are judged the best in each category. Medals will be presented only if original art is available to hang in the exhibition. A high-quality print will qualify in case of digitally created work.
All award winners will receive a complimentary one year membership to the Society of Illustrators.

Entry Fees
- $30 per entry for non-members of the Society of Illustrators.
- $20 for members of the Society of Illustrators entering their own illustrations.
- $35 per entry for non-members of the Society of Illustrators entering Sequential or Series.
- $30 for members of the Society of Illustrators entering their own Sequential or Series Work.
Art Directors and designers pay the non-member fees.
