The 25th Alpinale Short Film Festival

The 25th Alpinale Film Festival, one of the most traditional summer-festivals in Vorarlberg, is scheduled to take place from 10th – 14th August 2010 in Nenzing, Austria. The organizing committee of the film festival cordially invites film-directors from across Europe to show their latest films in Nenzing.

The Alpinale represents a venue for both professional and amateur filmmakers from home and abroad, who are given the opportunity to conduct multi-cultural and open dialogue with creative people, and to present their work to an interested audience.

All kind of films (feature, documentary, animation and experimental) are eligible.

In 1982 the foundation for the Alpinale was laid in Bludenz. Its award’s look derives from the town’s heraldic animal – the unicorn. In spite of the new Alpinale venue in Nenzing (since 2003) the unicorn has retained. The Alpinale Film Festival and its unicorn award are well-established amongst the festival community. Furthermore, the unicorn is the noblest mythical creature and symbolizes the good and is therefore rightly awarded to the award recipients.

Participants are encouraged to submit contributions for pre-selection in the following categories:

  • Short film International
  • Short film Academy
  • Short film Animation

All kind of films (feature, documentary, animation and experimental) are eligible.

The evaluation is made by an international jury. Its decisions are indisputable. The jury presents:

  • Golden Unicorn for best short film international
  • Golden Unicorn for best short film academy
  • Golden Unicorn for best short film animation

The Jury may express praiseworthy mentions for particular films. The audience decides on a Golden Unicorn as the audience-prize.
