13th DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition

The 2016 DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition has started accepting submissions from filmmakers of short films and screenwriters around the globe.

DC Shorts turns the spotlight on truly independent short films.

All accepted films will be screened during the festival and awards will be announced in several categories. The best screenplay will be awarded with up to $2,000 (US).

Named the “Coolest Short Film Festival” and “A Festival Worth the Submission Fee” by Moviemaker Magazine, the 13th DC Shorts Film Festival and 10th Screenplay Competition is the largest short film event on the East Coast of the United States — and one of the most celebrated!

In 2015, the Festival received over 1,200 entries from 57 nations, and ultimately screened 126 films from 24 countries in 17 unique showcases that played over 11 days to a total audience of 9,300 people. A table read of six screenplays was also hosted and the winner was awarded a prize of $2,000.
