The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), in cooperation with BMW Group DesignworksUSA, announces the premiere of the Global Excellence Awards, an international Interior Design Competition honoring the best in interior design projects from around the world. This worldwide design competition has been established to highlight outstanding originality and excellence in the creation of international interior design/architecture projects. The winners will be celebrated at a special presentation during Maison&Objet, January, 2011 in Paris, France.

The Prix Émile Hermès is going international. The award is designed to support innovation, and promote young talents whose forward-looking creations reflect evolving societies and lifestyles worldwide. Every three years, the Prix Émile Hermès invites young professional designers from all over the world (from final-year students to age 40) to design the objects of tomorrow, on a given theme. The Prix Émile Hermès was created in 2008 to foster creativity in young designers by offering them the chance to explore a specific theme as the starting-point for an original, vital contribution to the aspirations of today’s society.

Urânio Em Movi(e)mento, the 1st International Uranium Film Festival is Latin America’s first film festival to highlight nuclear and radioactive issues. It is an annual event with two international competitions. The Uranium Film Festival wants to promote, show and award prizes to short (15 – 40 min) and feature-length (41-120 min) films and videos focusing on any uranium and nuclear energy and radioactive risks issues, produced in any part of the world. The Uranium Film Festival will be held from 21 – 28 May 2011 in the city of Rio de Janeiro and from 2 – 9 June 2011 in the city of São Paulo.
