Omi International Arts Center will start accepting applications for the 2013 Music Omi International Musicians Residency from November. This residency program is open to musicians worldwide. Special travel stipends will be provided for Dutch and Indian musicians, as well as for musicians from the Czech Republic. Selected candidates will be announced in April 2013.

The d3 Housing Tomorrow competition for 2013 invites architects, designers, engineers, and students to collectively explore, document, analyze, transform, and deploy innovative approaches to residential urbanism, architecture, interiors, and designed objects. Participants are encouraged to rethink residential design and develop transformative solutions that advance sustainable thought. This competition is held annually and each year three main cash prizes are awarded. Jump the Gap is an International Design Contest promoted by Roca that should bring new and innovative concepts to the bathroom, understanding innovation as the anticipation of users’ new desires and needs, as well as (why not?) the transformation of dreams and desires into reality. The International Compost Awareness Week Committee of the US Composting Council invites you to get involved in ICAW 2013. The organizers are looking for anyone interested in participating in their 13th Annual Poster Contest. The competition is open to everyone and anyone who wants to help celebrate composting and promote the benefits of compost. Entries must be original and are limited to one submission per artist. The winning poster will be used to promote International Compost Awareness Week, 6 May – 12 May 2013.

The call for entry for the 2nd International Motion Festival (IMF), Cyprus 2013 is now open! Organized and hosted by the Department of Arts of the European University Cyprus, IMF 2013 is open for submissions from emerging artists, students and professional in eight categories. The Festival aims to bring together film-makers, video artists, computer animators, graphic designers and their audience and to familiarize the public with what has traditionally remained as the “invisible art”: motion graphics. It is the first of its kind both in Cyprus and the broader Mediterranean and Middle East region.

12th International Festival of Animated Films – AniFest 2013 has just announced the call for submissions for its international animation competition. The competition is open for animated films no longer than 60 minutes, completed after 1 January 2011. There are a total of 13 competition categories. The twelfth annual festival – AniFest 2013 will take place from 26 April to 1 May 2013 in Teplice and Duchcov, in the Czech Republic.

National Geographic Society has recently announced the opening of the 2012 National Geographic Photo Contest – an annual international competition that’s setting the standards for photographic excellence. Last year, more than 20,000 entries from over 130 countries were received, with professional and amateur photographers across the globe participating. The Grand Prize Winner for 2012 will receive $10,000 and a trip to National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., to participate in the annual National Geographic Photography Seminar in January 2013: A behind-the-scenes experience like none other.

The San Francisco Film Society is now accepting submissions for the 56th San Francisco International Film Festival, recognized throughout the world as an extraordinary showcase of cinematic discovery and innovation in one of the country’s most beautiful cities. Works in all genres, forms and lengths are considered for 2013. SFIFF 2012 presented 289 screenings of 174 films in 41 languages from 45 countries, and brought nearly 300 filmmaker and industry guests to the Festival from more than 20 countries around the globe.
