National Geographic Society has recently announced the opening of the 2012 National Geographic Photo Contest – an annual international competition that’s setting the standards for photographic excellence.
Last year, more than 20,000 entries from over 130 countries were received, with professional and amateur photographers across the globe participating.
The Grand Prize Winner for 2012 will receive $10,000 and a trip to National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., to participate in the annual National Geographic Photography Seminar in January 2013: A behind-the-scenes experience like none other.
National Geographic Photo Contest 2012 Opens for Entries!
Photographs must have been taken within two (2) years before the date of entry and may not previously have won an award in the National Geographic Photography Contest, the National Geographic International Photography Contest, or any, National Geographic Traveler photo contest in the last three years.
There is no limit on the number of entries per person.
The Categories for entries are:
- People,
- Places,
- Nature.
Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable.
