Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) is hosting its 2018 Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition and invites participation by students and professionals worldwide.
The ET Foundation: Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition is intended to enlighten students and engineering, design, and architecture professionals about aluminum extrusions’ superior advantages and many applications.
Whether you are a student or working designer, you can win scholarships and cash prizes by using your talent, ingenuity and creativity to design innovative products components and systems that feature aluminum extrusions. A total of $20,000 will be awarded in cash prizes and student scholarships.
Designs must be original and make use of at least one extruded aluminum component. Multiple entries may be accepted. If any category yields no entries deemed by the judges to adequately address the competition’s criteria, a prize will not be awarded in that category.
Winners of the 2018 Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition – both Student and Professional Classes – will be announced at the Extrusion Design University – EDU ’18 event scheduled for 14–16 May, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois.
Last year the competition received more than 55 entries from universities and schools around the world.
The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) – founded in 1950 – is an international association and dedicated to helping manufacturers, engineers, architects, and others to discover why aluminum extrusion is the preferred material process for better products. AEC created The Extrusion Technology for Aluminum Profiles Foundation (ET Foundation) to develop, promote, provide, and fund education and research related to aluminum extrusion processes and technologies, as well as to further encourage interest in the field.
