The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) has launched the 2023 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), its annual premier international design competition, recognizing and promoting design excellence across a wide array of industries and disciplines.
Founded in 1965, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is one of the oldest and largest industrial design associations in existence. Their roots stretch to the beginning of the profession and our members are, and have been, some of the most celebrated industrial designers of all time. The IDSA community helps strengthen the industrial design profession as a whole and contributes to the boundless impact of design within business, culture, and society.
Companies, designers and students from around the world are invited to submit innovative design projects, which benefit users, clients and society. The best of the best win IDEA and are recognized as shining examples of design excellence.
IDEA winners receive significant international publicity and exposure. In contrast to many other design awards, most of the associated perks of winning an IDEA are included with your entry fee. In addition to IDSA’s and our partners’ announcements of the IDEA winners, media around the world publicize the winners each year. IDSA’s annual Yearbook of Design Excellence, featuring in-depth coverage of the IDEA Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Special Award winners and a complete listing of all Featured Finalists, is distributed to an international audience of design and business executives.
There are 20 competition categories for the IDEA program. These subject areas demonstrate the expansive nature of industrial design and its impact on daily life. Further, the span of categories is a reflection of the magnitude of modern human need and a designer’s remarkable ability to respond to challenges through creative thinking and thoughtful design.

International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2023 – Entry Fee
Entries for IDSA Members cost $600 per entry, $845 for Non-Members. The entry fee for Student IDSA Members is $280 and $845 for Non-Members.
Entries submitted after 27 February 2023 are considered late, and charged an additional fee.
