The call for entries for the Morisawa Type Design Competition 2024 – themed Motivating Timeless Creativity – is now open.
The Morisawa Type Design Competition is a specialized competition in the field of typeface design, attracting innovative and adventurous works from around the world.
Awardees will receive a certificate and a trophy, as well as an additional cash prize as a supplementary award. Each Gold winning work in the five competition categories will be awarded a 1 million JPY cash prize.
In the Morisawa Type Design Competition 2024, the organizers are excited to introduce five unique categories, expanding beyond the traditional Japanese and Latin divisions. In addition to these classic divisions, they are introducing Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Hangeul categories, offering a diverse and vibrant spectrum of design challenges. The competition is open to individuals or groups. There are no specific restrictions regarding nationality or other criteria.
Entrants are allowed to enter multiple categories, and there is no limit on the number of submissions.
Since its inception as the “Morisawa Award International Typeface Design Competition” in 1984, it has been dedicated to fostering typeface designers and providing a platform for the discovery and promotion of outstanding design talent, with the support of diverse and renowned judges from various industries for over 30 years.
