As part of its Creative Media Grants program, Mozilla is funding art about online privacy and security, and accepts submissions for 2018. Mozilla is seeking artists, media producers, and storytellers who share that belief — and who use their art to make a difference in raising awareness about surveillance, tracking, and hacking. The Mozilla Creative Media Grants program awards grants ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 for films, apps, storytelling and other forms of media that explore topics like mass surveillance and the erosion of online privacy.

Mozilla proudly presents the return of Firefox Flicks, the global video competition that contributes to the Firefox story. In 2013, the theme is “Get Mobilized.” Through this competition Mozilla invites Firefox fans and filmmakers to create short videos, or “Flicks,” that help tell the Firefox story. Last year was a huge success and more than 400 videos submission were received from thousands of filmmakers all over the world. Firefox Flicks 2013 has recently been announced and starting from today the competition is open for submissions!

Mozilla is inviting all game designers and developers to get ready for the second edition of the Game On web-based game making competition. The challenge stays the same: show what’s possible using the web as an open gaming platform for the world. Make browser-based 2D games, 3D games, mobile games, hackable games and games for learning. Invent new game mechanics, create new storylines, engage diverse audiences, introduce visually challenging content. This competition can get you to GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2013 and you’ll have a chance to meet industry pioneers.

As a joint venture between the Free Software Foundation, the Creative Commons, Mozilla, and OpenGameArt.org, the Liberated Pixel Cup is a two-part competition for making a bunch of awesome free culture licensed artwork, and then programing a bunch of free software games that use it. Anyone may enter either or both phases of the contest. Entrants may be either single individuals or teams. Cash prizes will be provided from donations, for both stages of the competition.
