Alexia Foundation is proud to announce the Alexia 2020 Professional and Student Documentary Photography Competitions.
The Alexia Grants exist to help student and professional visual journalists produce projects that inspire change by addressing topics that are socially significant. Diversity of creators and approaches to producing work and recognize the strength of creating collaborative projects is encouraged.
The recipient of the The Alexia Professional Grant will receive $20,000 to produce their proposed project.
The top recipient of The Alexia Student Grant will receive a cash grant of $1,000 to produce the proposed story and tuition for a semester of learning, a fellowship, at Syracuse University to create work and further develop their skills with the support of a world-class faculty.
Two other submissions in each category will be recognized as competition finalists.
Submit a body of work consisting of UP TO twenty (20) photographs – do not feel compelled to submit 20. Photographs should demonstrate your ability to accomplish your proposed project. If you submit photos that are not related to your proposal, they must have been taken within the past three (3) years. There is no time limit on pictures that relate directly to your proposal. Select and sequence your submission thoughtfully.
Winners will be announced on or around 17 November 2020.
The Alexia Grants were created 30 years ago to support still photographers and that remains our primary mission.
