The Australian International Design Awards is one of the longest standing and most prestigious design awards in the world. The 2012 call for entries is open and as usual the Awards are seeking for product and business designs in several different categories.
Entry is open to all professionally designed products or services available in Australia (including those available to Australians via the internet). Products or services professionally designed by Australians for overseas markets are also eligible.

The Australian International Design Awards accepts professionally designed products and services across the following sectors.
For Product Design:
- Consumer
Includes domestic appliances, whitegoods, housewares, consumer electronics, personal accessories, baby goods, toys and personal care - Business + Technology
Includes office equipment, financial registers, communications terminals, commercial instruments and technology products - Medical + Scientific
Includes medical and laboratory equipment, therapeutic goods, home health care and personal monitoring devices - Automotive + Transport
Includes motor powered vehicles, automotive components and accessories, public and other modes of transport - Sport + Leisure
Includes professional and recreational sporting equipment, sporting apparel, camping gear and leisurewear - Housing + building
Includes construction equipment, building materials, plumbing, electrical lighting and cabling, industrial fittings and fixtures - Heavy Machinery
Includes agricultural, mining, earthmoving and production equipment - Architectural + Interior
Includes furniture, architectural lighting, bathroomware, architectural hardware, environments, textiles and object design
For Business Design:
- Not-for-profit
Not-for-profit services designed for charitable or other causes - Business
Profit-generating services designed for the business sector - Education
Services designed for the education sector - Government
Public services designed in response to government tenders
The Australian International Design Awards 2012 will award 5 main and a few special prizes and awards in July 2012.
