Animafest Zagreb 2012 is now accepting entries for its 22nd edition. Short animated films, no longer than 30 minutes, completed in 2010 are eligible for submission. There are four competition categories and lots of big prizes reserved for the best animated films. The 22nd World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb is an international competition festival for short animated films that will be held in Zagreb from 29 May – 03 June 2012. Blindonkey Cultural Association announces the opening of the second edition of the DonkeyArtPrize; a competition aimed at promoting modern and contemporary Art, developing an international community of artistic talent and discovering brand new artists. Each artist will be given the chance to expose their work in the DonkeyArtPrize circuit of events, and the winners will receive a cashprize award. The prize has an extremely free theme and subject. It is divided into three sections: Painting, Digital Art and Video.

The Aftermath Project is now accepting applications for the 2012 regular grant for conflict photography. The Aftermath Project’s mission is to support photographic projects that tell the other half of the story of conflict — the story of what it takes for individuals to learn to live again, to rebuild destroyed lives and homes, to restore civil societies, to address the lingering wounds of war while struggling to create new avenues for peace. Grant proposals should reflect an understanding of this mission. The Aftermath Project will be giving one $20,000 grant, as well as naming four finalists.

Kaman Art Foundation is calling visual artists, performing artists and art critics to apply for the international artist village residency – Sowing Seeds 2011. Sowing Seeds is a project that intends to create dialogues and exchanges amongst artists beyond their national identity and serves as an opportunity for rural artists to meet, share and exchange ideas, visions, and diverse views in order to create a deeper understanding of art. The artist residency will bring together 15 international artists practicing in a wide variety of media, collaboration, outdoor sculpture, documentation, or performing to bring benefit to a specific site and share ideas and methods for a period of 14 days in the village of Barmer, Rajasthan (India).

Animarte – the annual International Animation Festival – is currently accepting films for its 6th edition. Animarte is open to animated and mixed media shorts with a duration of up to 15 minutes. All animation techniques are accepted. Animarte showcases the best animation shorts from around the world and brings them to cities throughout Latin America. Already five major cities have been confirmed for Animarte’s sixth edition: Buenos Aires, Argentina; Mexico City, Mexico; Mendoza, Argentina; Viña del Mar, Chile and Montevideo, Uruguay. Last year the festival screened in five cities in Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay and was enjoyed by an audience of close to 4000 people!
