The 2018/2019 competition cycle briefs of the RSA Student Design Awards have recently been announced and entry opens in January, 2019. The RSA Student Design Awards is a global curriculum and competition for emerging designers that’s been running since 1924. The Awards include over £30,000 in cash prizes and paid placements. Winners also receive practical support from the RSA and their partners, and join a global community of alumni that includes Apple Design Chief Jonathan Ive, digital public services mastermind Ben Terrett and Forbes ’30 Under 30’ social entrepreneurs Elena Dieckmann and Ryan Robinson.

The Meitar Award is an international prize awarded for excellence in the field of photography, an initiative of PHOTO IS:RAEL and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund. Now on its third year, the Meitar Award is awarded to a photographer whose work has demonstrated excellence in the field of photography. The winner will receive a $14,000 grant for the production of a solo exhibition at next year’s festival, while works from all shortlisted candidates will be exhibited during the festival as well as at the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, Australia during 2019.

The 10th international PDP Creative Media Conference invites designers, graphic artist illustrators and anyone in between and beyond, to participate in Supernovae – its poster design exhibition competition. The competition is open to young professionals and students from around the world. Moho Art Association is accepting subscriptions for its YICCA 2018 – International Contest of Contemporary Art, open to all artists worldwide. The competition’s aim is to promote the enrolled artists, giving them chance to join the international market of contemporary art. All kinds of art works are accepted, including video, installations and performances. Internationality and networking make this art call a huge chance for artists, which can win a cash prize and have the opportunity to exhibit the submitted works in an art gallery of a European city. Jury’s final decision will lead to a selection of 18 artists that will participate in the expo.

The Japan Media Arts Festival Executive Committee is now accepting entries for the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival. All artists around the world, without distinction as to professional, amateur, independent, or commercial, are invited to submit their works to the four divisions: Art, Entertainment, Animation, and Manga of the Festival. From each division, the jury committee will select winners of the Grand Prizes, Excellence Awards, and New Face Awards. Each of the winners from the four divisions will receive a trophy and prize money up to 1,000,000 Yen, and also win an opportunity to present their works at the Exhibition of Award-winning Works in Tokyo in June 2019.

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is now accepting submissions for the 6th Annual Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards. The Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards seeks to recognize and honor the highest level of creativity and design excellence in interior design/interior architecture projects located in Asia Pacific countries. Winning entries will be published in an issue of Contract magazine, on the IIDA website, and in the official Winners Brochure.

Montelupo Ceramic Award (MCA) is a new international competition to produce a ceramic artifacts during an on-site residency close to Florence, Italy. The 2018 edition theme is “everyday object”. Submission is free and open for young designers up to 35 years of age. The total cash prize of $4,550, divided between three (3) winners. The best three designs will also be produced. The First prize winner will be invited by the organizer of the competition to a fully-paid one-week residency in Florence, Italy.

The BlueCat Screenplay Competition, now in its 21st year, is accepting submissions for its 2019 competition. All screenwriters around the world, regardless of age, are invited to submit their work of any genre. The Grand Prize in the Feature Category is $10,000 and the Grand Prize in the Shorts Category is $5,000. The Pilot Winner of the 2019 Competition will receive $5,000. The Fellini Award (for the Best International Screenplay) Winner will be awarded $5,000.

Professionals and Students are invited to submit designs that changes the habits of city life, provides freedom to children in a crowded cities and revitalizes the social life. A total of six prizes will be awarded in each of the two competition categories. The first prize in the Professional category is 5,000 Euro. The first prize in the Student category is 2,500 Euro. The total prize money fund for 2018 is 19,500 Euro.

Médicos del Mundo (MdM) has opened the call for its 22nd Luis Valtueña Humanitarian Photography Award competition, inviting amateur and professional photographers worldwide to participate. The Award has been initiated to denounce the situation of millions of people in the World and bring attention to human rights violation, social exclusion, armed conflicts, natural disasters and immigration. The winner will receive a project grant of 6,000 Euro to develop a photography project composed of at least 50 photos and a 30 minute video shoot related to the work of Médicos del Mundo, whether in Spain or in other countries.
