LA+ Interdisciplinary Journal of Landscape Architecture is hosting its third international competition — LA+ CREATURE.
LA+CREATURE explores how we can use design to open our cities, landscapes, and minds to a more symbiotic existence with other creatures.
The competition will award a total of $10,000 — 5 winners will receive $2,000, a certificate, and publication in the LA+ CREATURE issue. In addition, 10 honorable mentions to receive a certificate and publication in the LA+ CREATURE issue.
The brief asks entrants to choose a nonhuman client and design something to improve its life and increase human–nonhuman empathy. Your creature can be any species. The competition is open to all design disciplines.
You can choose any land, sea, or avian nonhuman creature. It can be any species, any size, and live anywhere. It can be an individual creature, a specific population of creatures, an entire species, or even multiple species.
Your design can be anything – a product, a structure/building, an environment/habitat, a process, a system, a mechanism, an apparatus, a landscape, a place, an app, a program, a PR campaign, an art installation, a space, a place, a park, an energy/food source… anything!
LA+ (Landscape Architecture Plus) is an award-winning interdisciplinary journal produced by the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design.
LA+ explores landscape architecture’s interdisciplinary potential, bringing readers a rich collection of contemporary thinkers and designers in two lavishly illustrated issues annually.
