Trieste Contemporanea is calling for applications for the 2025 Young European Artist Trieste Contemporanea (YEATC) Award. The Trieste Contemporanea Committee assigns the Young European Artist Trieste Contemporanea Award to a young Central Eastern European artist with the aim of promoting his or her work on the international art scene. The award gives the winner the opportunity to think and display an exhibition project at Studio Tommaseo in Trieste.

The Trieste Contemporanea Committee is pleased to announce the 15th edition of the International Design Contest with the aim of showcasing the most original contemporary design offerings from the countries of Central Eastern Europe. The competition is a biennial event established in 1995 by the Italian scholar of aesthetics and design Gillo Dorfles. The 15th edition of the contest runs in unison with the EU Slovenia-Italy cross-border project for Nova Gorica and Gorizia, designated European Capital of Culture (ECoC) in 2025. In preparing the ECoC event, organising bodies from the two cities (which form one continuous urban area on the border) declare to “share the same commitment: being the European Capital of Borderless Culture”.

L’Officina and Studio Tommaseo, together with the Trieste Contemporanea Committee, and in collaboration with Artifragili and Creaa.it, announce the fourth edition of the Squeeze It Contest. The competition is organized with the co-funding of the Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia. The contest asks from artists and young professionals under the age of 30, born in the EU countries and in the CEI member states, to squeeze their talent at the crossroads of three creative languages: Visual Arts, Digital Technology and Theatre. There are two separate awards in the competition – the Online Squeeze It Award and the Franco Jesurun Award. The winner of this online award will also have the opportunity to take part in the workshop for the Franco Jesurun Award finalists.

The Trieste Contemporanea Committee announces the 14th edition of the International Design Contest Trieste Contemporanea with the aim of showcasing the most original design offerings from the countries of Central Eastern Europe. The 2021 edition, themed: Basics, aims to reflect on individual contribution we can make to sustainable development. Basic issues of concern are how to effectively change ourselves and increase our responsibility to others and to our planet. Trieste Contemporanea 2021 offers 3 main prizes and a total of 8,000 Euro, of which 4,000 Euro are reserved for the best design.

L’Officina and Studio Tommaseo, together with the Trieste Contemporanea Committee have launched the third (2018) edition of the Squeeze It contest, open to all young Europeans under the age of 30. The competition is dedicated to Franco Jesurun, a visionary man of culture, that was a theatre actor and a gallerist, founder of the three cultural organizations in Trieste that promote the competition. Studio Tommaseo established this biennial competition in 2014, as part of the activities celebrating the Studio’s 40th anniversary. The 2018 winner of the Franco Jesurun Award, decided on the stage of the final evening of the 15th of December, 2018, will work with guest director Mirosław Bałka at a production of a video work from the action presented.

The Trieste Contemporanea Committee announces the 13th edition of the International Design Contest Trieste Contemporanea with the aim of showcasing the most original design offerings from the countries of Central Eastern Europe. Trieste Contemporanea 2018 offers 4 main prizes and a total of 9,000 Euro, of which 4,000 Euro are reserved for the best design in the competition. The 2018 edition of the contest will be based on the ongoing two-year project Harbour for Cultures (H/C). H/C draws inspiration from the real case history of how to convert and reuse the area of the Porto Vecchio (old port) of Trieste, which has remained unused and in a state of decay for decades.

Young artists from Central Eastern Europe, aged under 30 are invited to submit their applications for the Young European Artist Trieste Contemporanea Award 2017. Since 1999, the Trieste Contemporanea Committee rewards the Award to a young artist with the aim of promoting her or his work on the international art scene. The Award gives the overall winner the opportunity of conceiving and developing a solo show for the Trieste Contemporanea’s exhibition space in Trieste, Italy, due to be held in 2018. The artist will also have a monographic catalogue published and will benefit from professional exposure as a consequence of the award.

L’Officina and Studio Tommaseo of Trieste, with the Trieste Contemporanea Committee, have announced the Squeeze It Contest 2016. Young artists under the age of 30 are invited to create original projects, which are characterized by the dynamic interaction between the contemporary creativity of theater, the languages of the visual arts and of the new media. Тhe winner of the 2016 Franco Jesurun Award will be given the opportunity to collaborate with an internationally renowned video artist with whom he/she will realize a professional video work of the winning theatrical action. The video will premiere in Trieste and then will be screened in Europe through the international network of the organizers.
