L’Officina and Studio Tommaseo, together with the Trieste Contemporanea Committee have launched the third (2018) edition of the Squeeze It contest, open to all young Europeans under the age of 30.
The competition is dedicated to Franco Jesurun, a visionary man of culture, that was a theatre actor and a gallerist, founder of the three cultural organizations in Trieste that promote the competition. Studio Tommaseo established this biennial competition in 2014, as part of the activities celebrating the Studio’s 40th anniversary.
The 2018 winner of the Franco Jesurun Award, decided on the stage of the final evening of the 15th of December, 2018, will work with guest director Mirosław Bałka at a production of a video work from the action presented.
Students and young professionals born in the European Union and Central European Initiative member countries, in Kosovo and in Turkey, are asked to create an original theatrical action, organically connected to the issues of contemporary visual arts, taking into account the opportunities offered by information technologies and new media.
The applying theatrical action must be able fit in an ideal 4mx4mx4m size box and last no longer than 16 minutes.
