Playable is the annual global search for inspiring play design. Playable10 invites designers of all types from around the world to design playground equipment and spaces that will give a sense of place, wonder and fun so strong that they will entice children, teens and adults outdoors to play. Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Taskforce on Play (ATOP) are organizing the Playable10 competition in a belief that the talent is out there to find the answers to the challenges presented.

Künstlerhaus Schloß Balmoral supports visual artists from the disciplines of painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, graphic arts, design, photography, video as well as from new media and landscape art from all over the world by awarding artists-in-residence scholarships. A few years ago, BP rebranded themselves as ‘beyond petroleum’. And yet BP wants to invest billions of pounds into the Canadian tar sands – the dirtiest oil there is. They are threatening the Canadian wilderness, indigenous people, and the climate at precisely the time we should be cutting carbon emissions. That’s why Greenpeace wants you to rebrand them. Create a logo for BP which shows that the company is not ‘beyond petroleum’.

In this “new normal” home owners still desire livable, ascetically pleasing, and luxurious homes, but now need these same concepts implemented into smaller more affordable residential structures. This creates the perfect opportunity for the design community to take charge of this challenge and be the first to create new home designs, and design delivery methods, that meet today’s restraints and requirements. The purpose of the contest is to foster interest in the relationship of literature to the visual arts through the design of a hypothetical book cover for Tadeusz Borowski’s remarkable collection of concentration camp stories This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen. This is an ideas competition only: as of this writing there are no plans for the winner’s work to be featured on a forthcoming edition of Borowski’s work. The designer of the winning submission will receive a cash award of $1000.

MINI Space has a new super cool photo and graphic design competition for you. In celebration of the arrival of summer and to welcome in Brazil, the newest and very vibrant country to join the MINI Space community, the theme for this competition is “Sizzle”. Artists are invited to submit creative interpretations of this year’s competition theme of Art Moves – 3rd International Festival of Art on Billboards: „Together or apart?”. The 10 most outstanding projects will be presented during the Art Moves Billboard Festival in September/October 2010 in Torun, Poland.
